Southern California Association of Governments’ Retains ThirdWave to Conduct ERP Discovery & Planning RFP
July 28, 2023
ThirdWave was selected as the most qualified from a pool of leading IT consulting firms to develop Southern California Association of Governments’ (SCAG) ERP Discovery and Planning RFP.
Founded in 1965, SCAG is designated as a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and under state law as a Regional Transportation Planning Agency and a Council of Governments. The SCAG region encompasses six counties (Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura) and 191 cities in an area covering more than 38,000 square miles. It is the largest MPO in the United States, representing over 18.5 million people in an area covering over 38,000 square miles. The agency develops long-range regional transportation plans including sustainable communities strategy and growth forecast components, regional transportation improvement programs, regional housing needs allocations and a portion of the South Coast Air Quality management plans.
SCAG is looking to replace its core Enterprise Resource Planning system (Microsoft GP), and custom Financial Management System, with a modern system containing out-of-the-box features that more closely align to SCAG’s needs. In addition, SCAG is interested in exploring integrated functionality where needed, with an initial consideration for contracting, procurement, project, human resources, accounting, payroll, budget and grants.
The new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system will address and resolve today’s business challenges and better support best practice business processes. The ERP system will streamline routine operations by eliminating redundant tasks and disparate sources of data and will ensure a higher level of accuracy. The ERP system will empower SCAG operations by providing the right type of analytical information to enable informed decisions at all levels agency wide.
