Helix Water Embarks on Phase II of ERP Deployment
December 28, 2016
Existing and newly elected Helix Water Board members Mark Gracyk (left with wife) and Luis Tejeda (right) received an update on the status of the district’s multiple phase/year Enterprise Resource Planning project.
The presenters included Quince Lunde, Project Manager/Enterprise Applications Manager, Mike Herrera, Enterprise Architecture Manager and Roy Hernandez, President/CEO ThirdWave Corporation. The team provided board members an overview on how the project has proceeded. Begun in 2013, the project started with business requirements definition and the procurement phase. Phase 1, the implementation of numerous information systems included Cayenta (Utility Billing system), OnBase/KeyMark (Enterprise Content Management System) and XC2 (Backflow Management software) were carried out in 2014/2015, on schedule and on budget. Phase 2, the ERP implementation, will begin in 2017 and is projected to take approximately 14 months. Phase 3, which will include Asset Management and GIS Platform Standardization will complete the ambitious technology initiative in 2019.
The three phases are estimated to be carried out for an investment of $6,000,000 to $8,000,000, including all systems, professional services and project related costs, i.e., backfill staffing.
Given the extensive project planning and preparation carried out by Helix on Phase 1, ThirdWave anticipates highly successful outcomes for Phase 2 and 3. The current and final phases reflect Helix’s effort to re-tool their technology portfolio as the prerequisites to providing exceptional customer services and industry leadership.
