Indio, City of Festivals, selects ThirdWave to execute its IT Master Plan for its 20 Year Smart City Vision

October 10, 2019

ThirdWave has been awarded a professional services contract to develop an IT Master Plan (ITMP) for the City of Indio, located in Riverside County, in the Coachella Valley of Southern California's Colorado Desert region. Located 23 miles east of Palm Springs, the City has a population of approximately 90,000 residents, making it is the largest city in Coachella Valley. Indio is a full-service city, with a Police Department, a municipal water agency, and an extensive public park system. It is known as the “City of Festivals” for the multitude of music and community festivals and programs held there throughout the year.

The City was seeking the most qualified consultant to develop a comprehensive ITMP to evaluate the current environment and provide a strategic roadmap. A key facet of the project is aligning the IT organization’s efforts and resources with industry best practices for the City, Police, and Water Authority, including the City’s Geospatial Information Systems (GIS). The City’s objective is to look beyond the normal five (5) year span to envision what IT will look like at the City 20 years down the road -- and what an Indio “Smart City” of the future will look like.  “Given the number of proposals the City received from the most qualified consultants in the IT industry, we are privileged to have been selected for this project,” noted Roy Hernandez, ThirdWave President and CEO.
