October 10, 2023

The City of Long Beach is the seventh-most populous city in California and the 43rd-most populous City in the United States. Long Beach, known for its urban beach-town feel, has been named the 10th most walkable city in the United States, and is the only Southern California city to make the Top 10 list. Located in the southern part of Los Angeles County, it is part of the Gateway Cities region and has the second busiest container port in the U.S.

The City of Long Beach is the 173rd city who has chosen ThirdWave to carry out its Information Technology Strategic Plan and Roadmap. The City's Technology and Innovation Department (TID)  selected ThirdWave to produce their short-term IT Strategic Plan, referred to as TID25, to articulate a clear and achievable vision, principles, strategic focus, and implementation roadmap for TID to have in place by the end of 2025.

Key components of the IT strategy and roadmap include:

  • Digital transformation, easy to use online services, anytime, anywhere, to greatly enhance residence, businesses, and visitor's experience with the city

  • Improve equitable access to technology for Long Beach's diverse communities, aligned with the City's equity, accessibility, and inclusion goals

  • Coexist and work in partnership with the City's 2030 strategic vision, the future TID racial equity action plan, and opportunities presented by the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games

"ThirdWave is delighted to be selected for this engagement. It continues a lengthy and successful relationship with the City of Long Beach, executing various projects, stretching back 20 years," noted Roy Hernandez, President and CEO of ThirdWave Corporation.
