"IT Best Practices & Why They Really Matter," Roy Hernandez Presents at Southern California MISAC Meeting

February 23, 2023

March Air Force Base Museum, Riverside CA. ThirdWave President, nationally recognized government IT thought leader, Roy Hernandez, shared his perspective on IT Best Practices with MISAC, and why they really matter. The meeting was hosted by Richard Castillon, Lifetime MISAC and Awards Committee member, with approximately 20 members in attendance. ThirdWave’s presentation was followed by lunch (provided by ThirdWave) and a review of the MISAC awards application and process.

Mr. Hernandez’ presentation addressed the following IT best practices:

  • IT/Digital Strategic Planning

  • Business Process Mapping

  • Solicitation Process

  • Project Management

  • Project Portfolio & Resource Management

The presentation included Q&A and a closing thought. Mr. Hernandez noted that best practices are not merely an academic exercise. "They promote streamlined business processes enhancing operational effectiveness, mitigate large project failures (e.g., ERP, Utility Billing, Enterprise Asset Management systems), can save millions of dollars, and leverage limited IT staff resources. And aligned with local government responsibilities -- they foster extraordinary customer service delivery and community well being," noted Hernandez.
