North County Transit, with 11 M riders in Greater North San Diego County Area, Selects ThirdWave for IT Consulting Services

Oceanside, CA.  North County Transit District (NCTD), with 11 million riders in the Greater North San Diego County Area, selected ThirdWave to provide IT Consulting Services.

The family of transit services provided by NCTD includes: 

  • COASTER: commuter rail service: serving 41 miles of routes, 8 stations, 7 locomotives, and 28 bi-level coaches

  • SPRINTER: hybrid rail train running east and west between Escondido and Oceanside, with 455 trains running every week, 15 stations, 12 Hybrid Rail Diesel Multiple Unit passenger trains

  • BREEZE: fixed route bus system, serving 849,000 people in North San Diego County, 1,020 Square Miles, and 30 routes, more than 1,600 bus stops, 9 transit centers, and 152 buses (143 CNG and 9 Diesel)

  • FLEX: rural and on-demand service covering 80.9 square miles, 3 FLEX routes, 150 stops, 2 transit centers, with 8 buses serving Oceanside to Camp Pendleton and Escondido to Ramona

  • LIFT: paratransit, serving anyone certified eligible by ADA regulations, plus personal care attendants, with 53 Cutaway vans and minivans.

  

Consulting services will assess NCTD’s technology operations systems including: all IT on all revenue vehicles and administration-based systems. ThirdWave will provide on-call IT and business systems consulting in support of IT transit business operations systems and infrastructure. Additionally, ThirdWave will provide analysis, alternatives, and recommended solutions to update and introduce next generation technologies, best practices, efficient and effective alternatives. This may also include, strategic planning, budgeting, feasibility studies, related to applications and network. As a national leader in this field, ThirdWave will lend its patented methodology to articulate a clear roadmap for technology procurements, upgrades, synchronization between systems, and maintenance over the next five (5) years.
