ThirdWave to train SGVCOG staff on Project Management Best Practices

The San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments selected ThirdWave to provide professional training to 20 staff members on project management principles, techniques and best practices and to develop a Project Management handbook based on PMI PMBOK best practices.
The San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) is a joint powers authority compromised of representatives from 30 cities, 3 Los Angeles County Supervisorial Districts, and the 3 Municipal Water Districts located in the San Gabriel Valley. It is the largest and most diverse sub-regional council of governments in Los Angeles County, encompassing more than 374 square miles and over 2 million residents. The SGVCOG serves as a regional voice and works to improve the quality of life of its residents living in the San Gabriel Valley. The SGVCOG works on issues of importance to its members, including transportation, housing, economic development, the environment, and water, and seeks to address these regionally.
ThirdWave will provide various services under this engagement, including:

Assess current project management programs and systems.

Carry out ThirdWave’s Patented Rapid Workflow® As-Is/To-Be business process improvement workshops for various mission critical processes such as Procurement, Contracting, Project Management and Grants Management

Key activities addressed for Business Process Improvement included project management, invoice payments, resource management, personnel roles/ responsibilities, and project close-out.

Develop future state process flow charts, forms and templates.

Develop a Project Management Handbook based on the PMI PMBOK best practices.

Conduct Project Management Training for 20 staff members.
