ThirdWave to Assist City of Berkeley Replace Accela Permitting System
November 7, 2023
Berkeley, CA. The City of Berkeley has once again requested ThirdWave’s assistance, tech experience and expertise in assisting them replace an Accela Permitting System. As a consequence of our extraordinary professional tech services, and our relationship with the City as a trusted partner, this is the 17th (seventeenth) engagement Berkeley has awarded ThirdWave since 2017.
This engagement entails employing ThirdWave’s unique/patented As-Is and To-Be business process mapping methodology to articulate functional and technical requirements for 30 mission critical permitting processes. The project will include a complete set of reporting, interface and data migration specifications. ThirdWave will use these data sets to produce a Request for Proposal that permitting software vendors will respond to.
The City’s Project Manager, Eryn Blackwelder, Community Services Specialist II, Planning Department has done an exceptional job shepherding the project, which cuts across multiple city departments: e.g., Planning, Finance, Public Works and the Information Technology departments. The end project will ensure residents and business in Berkeley achieve the development initiatives in a timely manner.
