City of Coronado Selects ThirdWave to Articulate 5-Year Technology Strategic Plan

June 3, 2013

Situated across the bay from San Diego lies the quaint and picturesque island beach community of Coronado. Incorporated in 1890, Coronado has a rich history and the feel of a Mediterranean village. Accessible by a transportation landmark, the Coronado Bridge, driving to the City offers a spectacular view of the San Diego Bay, dotted with sailboats and the metropolitan skyline of the city of San Diego.

The affluent City of Coronado retained ThirdWave to articulate a vision for the effective use of technology and identify a five year strategy for implementing new technologies in a cost effective manner. According to the City’s IT Manager, Brian Newton, the proposed IT Strategic Plan will “be the cornerstone of the City’s efforts to improve the balance between demand for more and better technology and available IT resources, including staff, capital and operating funds.”

As a thought leader in IT Strategic Planning in the US, ThirdWave was pleased to be entrusted with this important project. “The City of Coronado represents the fourth of several Southern California coastal communities that awarded Business / IT Strategic Planning engagements to ThirdWave in 2013, including New Port Beach, City of Carlsbad, and the Port of San Diego.” noted Sergio Hernandez, Executive Vice President of ThirdWave. The successful selection of an LA-based firm is particularly satisfying because of the high volume and caliber of IT firms located in the Irvine and San Diego areas.
